What can I do?

Supporting HRSAG is great – but there is more YOU can do!

1. Write to your MSPs and also prospective MSP candidates (There is an election next year!)

· They need to know your continued concern.

· It is they who will, or may, have to vote on solutions, including the establishment of any ‘remediation’ fund.

· There is an overwhelming desire across the majority of all MSPs of all political parties to

o Understand and quantify the problem

o Find a solution to the problem

· If you have a particular personal experience, tell them. It makes the problem more ‘real’.

Tell them the facts – supply evidence if you have any

Then

Tell them how you feel anger, frustration, helplessness, desperation, - try not to ‘rant’!

2. Write to your (Westminster) MP

· They need to know your continued concern.

· It is they who have the voice in the Westminster Parliament on the control of financial institutions

· The regulation of Lenders and their policies. And thus (to some extent) their lending policies.

· The regulation of Insurance providers, which affects the provision of

· Professional Indemnity Insurance, without which surveyors and inspectors may not undertake building inspections. (This is a matter which MPs from Scotland have been active on, but they need continued support)

· Building Insurance

· They need to continue to pressure the UK Ministers and Parliament to engage in a realistic, timeous, and meaningful way with the Scottish Government on these issues. Sadly, and frustratingly for all Scottish politicians that has not been the case.

3. By other means

· Engaging with you Community Council, which MPs and MSPs often attend and where the matter can be highlighted in a particularly 'local' way.

· Media

· Petitions – for example one here you could sign, started by an Edinburgh resident https://www.change.org/p/boris-johnson-u-k-and-scottish-government-to-fund-the-replacement-of-all-dangerous-cladding

AND IT WOULD REALLY HELP IF YOU COULD COPY ANY EXCHANGES WITH ANYONE TO US.
